About Kathy Rush | Colorado Artist

Working in Oil, Watercolor,
Acrylic, & Mixed Media
I have been doing art all of my life, and it is my passion.
As a preschooler, crayons, finger paints, and colored pencils were my specialty. Through my teen years my work was full of moodiness and angst. As I grew into an adult, my paintings began to reflect what truly spoke to me: the landscapes, the wildlife, and the wide skies of the West.
The Turn
As a brain cancer survivor and ongoing patient, my art has taken a different direction. It has become more fluid, more focused on the illusion and the feeling of a place than its precise details. I still love the details, but they are no longer the most important thing.
What matters now is the mood, the movement, and the moment when a painting stops being paint on a surface and starts being somewhere you want to be.
I work in oils, watercolors, acrylics, and mixed media, letting the subject guide the medium. Each approach brings something different to the work, and moving between them keeps the painting feeling alive.

Colorado
Art Collectors
A Colorado home deserves art that understands where it is.
Whether you have a mountain cabin in Summit County, a ranch on the Front Range, an apartment in the Denver Metro Area, or a home in Fort Collins or Boulder, the right original painting does something no furniture or fixture can. It roots the space in the landscape you chose when you decided to live here.
Kathy Rush paints the places Colorado homeowners & art collectors love. Her landscapes, wildlife, and abstract works in oil, watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media are made to live in real homes, looked at every day, and felt rather than just seen.
